The food was great. The staff took forever for everything. Our waitress really didn't give our table attention. A server we had kept slamming all of our plates in the table. Went friday night where all the other restaurants we so packed yet this one was half empty. The picture frame by our table had dust particles clingling off the frame. I was afraid it would fall in our food. Overall, even though the food was good, do not plan on going back.

This isn't a great place. Came here with my fiancé for a date night. The wait staff was a bit clueless. We were sat with no silverware and had to request some from a passing by employee. They came to the table a total of three times. Once to get our order, next to bring our drinks and then the bill. My fiancé ordered the Filet and Shrimp Hibachi and I ordered a noodle dish. The food took quite a bit to get to the table. When it arrived, I tasted the noodle dish and it was very bland (no flavor whatsoever). My fiancés hibachi was okay, but not fantastic. I was able to flag down one of the servers (they all seem to serve every table) to swap out my noodle dish with something else. Still, we decided this wasn't the best place and haven't been back.

Service was good, food was good, fried rice tasted like it was missing a little something though.

So great! Fresh food, tastes amazing, sushi is great! Service is also great. Love the hibachi chicken, spicy tuna roll, and dancing shrimp roll. Edamame to start is an excellent way to kick things off.

I frequently get sushi to go from Saitos. Always very good food and friendly service. Parking at Promenade is sometimes a bear, but no big deal. My favorite rolls are the Pacific Roll, and the City Place roll.

  • Evelin B.

I really this place. It has both inside and outside seating and the inside is sort of dim (perfect for date night) but not too dim also perfect to hang out with friends. I usually seat myself at the sushi bar; last night was no different from other. My boyfriend and I ordered three rolls and some chicken fried rice and sake to drink. The sushi is always fresh, however one of my rolls had eel in and I am not a huge fan of eel and the eel was nowhere in the description of the roll. HUGE TURN OFF. However the JB deluxe was amazing as well as the chicken fried rice. Either way, over all the place is great and if you don't like it its located in a plaza filed with many great restaurants.

I came here for dinner with my boyfriend. I ordered different veg-friendly sushi rolls. The food was great. One thing they had there that I had never tried was a Seaweed Salad roll. That has now become one of my favorite rolls. I have also had tofu there and it was great as well. As far as the restaurant the staff was very nice. The food came out very quickly. They have a good sized menu with a lot of variety. They also have a nice drink menu. I would definitely recommend them.

Very crappy service from chef. He messed up order and laughed with no apologies. Would rather go somewhere else next time for a birthday celebration.

Love this spot for lunch because then the prices are reasonable, filet mignon hibachi is the best! Sushi is great and I recommend giving this place a try. It's the best place to eat in the promenade.

Great food but very very very very slow service. My wife and I waited 25 minutes before our hibachi was started.

Still amazing no matter how many times I go here! We started at World of Beer which is right across the way in the Promenade of Coconut Creek. Then over to Saito's for dinner. Had a craving for Hibachi. Was not disappointed. They sat us right way. Service was very friendly & efficient. Had a nice Sake along with a Sake-rita. New experience. Try it! The apps: Spring rolls, Edamame & Fried Tofu. All superb! My entrée was Surf & Turf. Filet Mignon & Lobster w/ veggies. Delicious. Came with a nice, fresh salad w/ ginger dressing & a clear soup. Quite a lot of food. Will keep coming back here.

The food and service were very good. I've been there a couple of times in both the sushi and hibachi sides and no complaints. Very clean and nice atmosphere. Its not anymore expensive than your nicer sushi places. Its not a cheap all u can eat place.

Very good sushi and a very nice atmosphere! Just a little bit pricey.

  • Glenn G.

Last night was my first time there. It is a modern and new location. We ate at the Hibachi tables. Pricing is about the same as Peking-Tokyo in Coral Springs. I felt they really skimped on the vegitables. It was a tiny little portion. The rest was about the same quality as P-T. Even though P-T is older, I prefer it over Saito's. One thing to note is that our tablemates ordered dim-sum. I had heard of it, but never tried it. I may return to see how that is. It looked good.

  • Tara G.

Not worth the hype...drinks were just ok, sushi was sub par didn't seem super fresh and kind of bland whereas my spicy tuna appetizer was overly salty and too much flavor. I addition although service was fast is wasn't a great dining experience as you have several waiters/waitresses seems kind of messy and all over the place. The best part of the restaurant is location as it is located in the coconut creek parkway close to lots to do. I would not recommend if craving really good sushi but ok for a quick bite and a drink before heading somewhere else in the parkway.

My mother and sister swear by this place. It's one of their favorites and they always bring people here. I had not been, so when visiting this month, we came over here. Great place to go to get hibachi and not sit through the "show". Other places do this, but the food here was really good. We were a party of 4 and liked the wine list- there was a nice pinot griogio not often seen by the glass. Chardonnay as well. We all got the hibachi shrimp and steak (3 filet mignon's and 1 NY strip) - all medium rare. We also all got the special fried rice. It comes with soup (pretty good onion soup) and salad- fresh lettuce and a tangy ginger dressing . They brought the soup, then salad the a big plate with 2 shrimp appetizer, shrimp, perfectly cooked meat and a nice big pike of fresh vegetables. Yum! We ended up taking some home for 2 lunches the next day. Service was good but it can take a while if really busy. I will definitely go back again!. I would stick to the hibachi myself based on the other reviews.

Fun place to go for hibachi dinner. Typical hibachi menu - includes mushroom broth, salad with ginger dressing, shrimp appetizer, tons of veggies and then your choices of steak, chicken, shrimp, lobster, fish, filet or any combo of this. Your choice of white brown or fried rice (no noodles here). The food is very tasty and portions large enough to take home. Nice show from the hibachi chef - kids menu too (same dinner but smaller portion and discounted price). I've also been here on the non-hibachi side and have had sushi and cocktails - very nicely done. Clean updated restaurant.

We came here for the dim sum since we didn't feel like driving too far for the typical restaurants that Chinese people usually go to. I didn't have high expectations for this place, and the food was just what I thought. The dim sum was pricier and the taste wasn't great. Some dishes were a bit bland, while some weren't greasy enough for me. However, this restaurant serves an array of other dishes, which makes up for my dissatisfaction for their dim sum, and those dishes tasted pretty well. In all, don't come here for dim sum. Look at their other dishes. I think that because they have so much to choose from on their menu, some dishes won't taste as good as others.

I have been here once for hibachi and once for sit down service. Their hibachi is nothing special. The fried rice lacked in spices and flavor. The steak wasn't a very good quality. And the soup has a strange taste to it. Overall, the main memory i took from it was 'well, I won't be back for that.' Table service was fine. The aged tofu was a little too bland - the sauce wasn't strong enough and it wasn't served hot enough or with bonita flakes. I judge harshly because this is one of my husband and mine's favorite dishes. We got a sushi roll (Wellington roll) as well which was just OK. There is just better sushi around. This place reminds me of some Japanese chains. Great if you are just starting out on Japanese food, not so great if you aren't. Service is usually good - not outstanding as I was left without water or a drink for large periods of time both times I came and had to ask for water refills.

  • Bill D.

Not really sure what all the hype is about this place. The few times I've gone the sushi rolls were small and dry. There's also been a strange smell in the place at times. Maybe the hibachi is what brings people back, because the sushi sure can't be it.

We came to Saito's with another couple to catch up and enjoy some good grub. We were seated relatively quickly with only about a 10 minute wait outside in the sweltering, depths of hell type, heat. A typical hibachi place, you are seated with other strangers around a flat-top griddle where the cooking is done. Unfortunately for us (or maybe for them) we were seated next to some less than friendly, not really fun, people. We, on the other hand, didn't let that stop us as we laughed and enjoyed ourselves the entire time. I'm sorry to report that I didn't catch our chef's name, but he was very fun and friendly (to us at least). His skills were on par with the other amazing hibachi chef's I've come across over the years, but he did have a good demeanor and attitude about him which he clearly directed in our attention. We happily played along with him, and it was great. The food. I ordered filet and scallops and my girlfriend, the filet and chicken. Both were expertly cooked with perfect flavoring. I was also somewhat surprised that the veggies were just perfectly undercooked! Usually they are cooked so much that they become mushy when they're plated, but our expert chef served them with the little bit of crispness that made you know they were fresh...perfecto! Needless to say, the prices were on par with your typical hibachi place. The food was great and we'll certainly be back again!

Roll was good but I ordered hot sake. Large one. But bottle was too small. I think they have own bottle. And it was 11dollar

If only there was a zero as an option. The fried rice was bland and crunchy. Scallops were nasty shrimp was over cooked. Other than that my wife and I both had sour stomachs. If I never go back it will be just a little too soon.

I love close to the promenade so I spend a whole lot of time in this plaza. I've been coming to this Saito's location for a while , and never have had a problem, the food , ambience and employees are great.!!

I have been to both their Boca Raton location on Lyons and Glades as well as their Coconut Creek location on Lyons and Wiles numerous times. My preference happens to be the Boca Raton location due to ease of parking and friendliness of the staff but both are fantastic. The sushi is top 5 in the area. Always fresh and delicious without that "fishy" smell that I am very sensitive to. The rolls are good flavor pairings and always prepared well. The hibachi is also of top quality and their prices are well in line with the norm. The short version: I order take out from there at minimum once a week (and am greeted by name every time I go) and every time my wife and I get a chance to have a date night without our three young daughters, Herman, the manager, always gives us a special treat to celebrate our date night. If you want fantastic food in a beautiful atmosphere, this is the place for you.

This was our second time both hibachi. The kids loved the show my four year old got lots of attention from the chief. The food was fantastic and fresh. Yes its pricey but what do you expect your paying for the show. It's great when you want to splurge. We will be back.

What a bad experience!!!! And twice the same :-( The food was cold, the fried rice had no flavor at all, and the server show up just twice during the whole meal I told my husband never again.

  • Jessica A.

They have a strange self-seat policy, no hostess if you want to sit outside. Also the waiter did not give any recommendations, considering the large complicated menu for inexperienced sushi-goers. The food came out quickly! Unfortunately, each plate was delivered separately about 2 minute apart. I personally ordered the "Bento Box" for lunch and was pleased with the variety of food and modest portions. The food portions are exactly what you pay for and sushi is of good quality. The side dishes, such as the side salad, has a very poor presentation and almost inedible consistency. Over-all, not much of an experience but sushi cravings were satisfied.

I made a reservation for the same night via email from Saito's website. They confirmed it with me within a couple hours. My husband and I and another couple were the first ones there out of 20 people. We had a drink at the bar, a mai tai was ok , a little sweet could have used a little more bite. The other two drinks were really small glasses like 6oz drinks they liked them. All three drinks came to $27. Everyone else showed up shortly after our 8:00 reservation and we were seated immediately. Most had hibachi and a couple had sushi. Soup, salad then hibachi food. The service was quick, the food was plentiful. It is a pretty atmosphere. The service was really good, the chef was fun. And everyone enjoyed their meal. For our two hibachi meals and two drinks each, the bill was $76. I had steak, he had steak and scallops. So drinks are about $10 each regardless of what you have. Good time for everyone.

We ordered 3 different sushi rolls and soup. The first roll came out really fast but when we decided to order two more rolls it was a while before they came and took the order. Service was slow but not intolerable. Even when it was time for the check it seemed forever before he came and got it. The mexican and volcano roll were both pretty good. I have had better volcano rolls but this one was decent. We sat outside which was great except for the obnoxious person and world of beer that keep getting on his motorcycle and revving it every 5 minutes.

Well, I had high hopes for this place, but for the price I paid and service I got, it was "ok" at best. 1) Server wouldnt come by the table, it wasnt even that busy! Just to get water filled seemed like a chore 2) Miso soup was salty, and so was my teriyaki dishes 3) Tofu and shared appetizers were ok. highlight of the meal. Maybe I came an off night, but its probably not going to be worth my time or price paid.

Cool looking place. Hibachi basically the same as everywhere else though. Seen one teppanyaki chef, seen em all. Pricing average but less than Benihanna. I've never seen one of these places charge extra for fried rice until going here however. Not the worst inspection I've ever seen; you should only see some of the other local Asian places' reports- see below- Inspection Details Business Name SAITO JAPANESE STEAKHOUSE Date 5/15/2012 City COCONUT CREEK ZIP 33073 County BROWARD Business type Permanent food service Address 4443 LYONS RD #D102 Total violations 11 Critical violations 9 Non-critical violations 2 Inspection type Routine - Food Disposition Inspection Completed - No Further Action Food obtained from approved source (critical violation) 1 violation Original container: properly labeled, date marking, consumer advisory on raw/undercooked oysters or animal products (critical violation) 2 violations Food protection during storage, preparation, display, service, transporation; potential for cross-contamination, equipment, personnel, storage (critical violation) 2 violations Hands washed and clean, good hygienic practices, alternative operating plan; eating/drinking/smoking (critical violation) 1 violation Non-food contact surfaces designed, constructed, maintained, installed, located 1 violation Thermometers, gauges, test kits provided (critical violation) 1 violation Toilet and hand-washing facilities, number, convenient, designed, installed (critical violation) 1 violation Walls, ceilings, and attached equipment, constructed, clean 1 violation Toxic items properly stored, labeled and used properly (critical violation) 1 violation

My kid loves hibachi cooking so for the price, this is okay since Kansai is now out of business. It seems we always get a kid-friendly chef so my little one is all into the show. The servers are good. Not a big fan of their white sauce or sushi.

    (4)
  • Charlene W.

Can't say anything about the sushi as I've never ordered it but I will say that the hibachi is excellent. Yes I've had it all including the chicken, shrimp, steak, lobster, etc... Rudy is an awesome chef and Lily my favorite server:) shocked to see bad reviews on here... Someone said their ginger dressing was pasty? Their ginger dressing is up there with the best and I've had plenty! Fried rice awesome! Oh and don't forget to ask for extra yum yum sauce:)

Went to early dinner at Saito on Fri. night at 6 pm. Nobody really there yet but they lead us to the back of restaurant and faced us to the wall. Not very feng shui-y. Felt boxed in. I should have said something but by the time we sat down, they had two other couples seated (to fill their hibachi table). You'd think they'd want us up front so passerby's would see the place looking lively. Anyway, this is one of my favorite places, food is consistently good and I much prefer quality over Beni Hana. Today, this location was off: lobby smelled fishy (sushi bar?); restroom smelled like there had been a sewerage issue; front windows of restaurant and door leading to restroom all covered in fingerprints....just didn't feel all that clean. At 6 pm, when they are just opening, I'd have had the staff sprucing those things up for the night. There were a good dozen staff members just standing around, waiting for crowds to arrive.

What a terrible experience. To start off the soup was cold and tasted like chicken broth, the salad had this pasty clumpy ginger dressing on it which was barely edible. Then onto hibachi... Totally rushed experience. The guy was in such a hurry that he squirted soy sauce on me and the guy next to me. The fried rice was completely tasteless. What's the point in an up charge for fried rice if u just get garbage in return? Hibachi shrimp and filet was ok, but its pretty hard to mess that up. All said and done i paid my tab and got out of there. This place is not for me at all. Japan inn of Weston and plantation are still the best hibachi restaurants in south florida.

This place is just ok. Nothing special. They have all the basics you would find at a japanese steak house, and the decor is nice but the food is not that memorable. We also ordered sushi and I found the rice to be a little dry and the eel sauce to be watered down. I hate when places do that.

Horrible, rude service. Was told to hurry up because they needed our table. Got up to use the restroom and came back about two minutes later to find our table cleared and someone else being sat at it. The manager was waiting there to give us our check. I've run and owned restaurants for over 20 years and I have never seen such poor service and lack of concern for paying guests. Worst experience I have ever had. Had we been in the wrong and sitting forever then I might understand the urgency to turn the table but we had our food for about 5 minutes when this happened. Not to mention that they threw my 6 year old's food away and he had taken maybe two bites. Horrible, horrible experience. Wont be back and will be spreading the word.

The Asian waitress with the glasses is soooo rude. This place needs to check their management. I went here last night and my husband orders a regular roll and a hand roll. When the food comes there are 2 regular rolls and no hand roll, so he tells the waitress who goes to take it back, but she returns to the table with the same dish and asks if he will eat it because she messed up the order. My husband was nice enough to accept but ask he is she will discount the check to the hand roll, in which she responds rudely "its ok ill just pay for it myself" and walks away shaking her head and doesn't even let him respond. Then my roll didn't even have the correct ingredients so I sent that back too. After her attitude the other two girls in our party didn't even want to eat because they were so upset. Needless to say she had an unfavorable tip and Saitos lost 4 customers.

We are regulars here. Usually we do sushi takeout but we do go for lunch on occasion and enjoy the bento box lunch. For $10 you can pick from sushi to Japanese dishes and stir fries that come with spring roll, dumpling and miiso soup in this cute little tray. We've tried many sushi places in our day but my dh and I agree Saito is the best. We love the Grouper Garlic Roll, Saito Roll, Spider Roll and Lobster Roll. We find the service is fine. Had the hibachi grill once with the family and it was fun and the food was good. Definately one of our favorite restaurants in the area. They also have a beautiful bar area. If your looking to have drinks and a little sushi appetizer its a nice way to start to a date night.

My family enjoys dim sum and they used to have a huge selection that was delicious. Sadly, our last visit was a disaster. We were told they rarely have the dim sum any longer because the chef works the hibachi table?! So we ordered Udon soup, Beef sukiyaki, katsu, and a few other things. Blech... I think this place has changed hands. Why, you ask? The floor and booth was filthy- my husband wanted to leave but I had 2 squirmy kids with me..no chance. The waitress was abrupt and when she finally brought our food out, my order was wrong! I asked for the udon soup and she brought me the yaki udon. She asked if I still wanted it.... Uh no, I'd like what I ordered. So my family ate while I waited. And waited. And waited. The kids liked the katsu (what's not to like about fried food?) but hubby complained that the sukiyaki was bland and tasted like water. My food arrived when everyone was finished so we packed it up and paid. P.S. - Don't go in the bathroom.

This place is expensive. But for the most part it's worth it. I've been here three times for the hibachi and every time the food has been great. My favorite is the steak hibachi... Especially after getting a side of their Teriyaki sauce which is amazing. When it comes to drinks, these folks have a lychee mojito that's to die for... The "show" part of the hibachi is nice, but it does grow thin quickly since it's the same every time you go. Price is about $70 for a party of two at the hibachi. If I could afford it, I'd go more often...

This place can accommodate fine dining or casual multi appetizer sample fest with some Sushi rolls thrown in. I haven't tried teppanyaki there, but I'd bet it's decent. Nice martini list also.

Decent variety of sushi and I have to say, I order here at least once a week spending an average of $50 a pick up. Don't get me wrong. It's CONSISTANTLY good. Not cheap but a guaranteed sushi fix will be satisfied.

I've been here a handful of times and I will definitely continue to return. The food here is amazing and I love that you can order hibachi on the sit down side. The sushi is always fresh. Their ginger salad is one of the best I've ever tried. When you go I suggest the fancy lobster roll ( be sure to specify cause they have another lobster roll that isn't that good). The tuna and wahoo tataki, and hibachi scallops are dishes where you can't go wrong. My only suggestion is to always double check your bill for example if you order a hibachi dinner meal it comes with soup and salad but if you order those things as appetizers just make sure they didn't charge you for them. My only complaint with this place is just that- I've had to have my bill corrected more than once. Besides that food is amazing and highly recommend for a night out, date night or special occasion. Not cheap but not terribly expensive. Enjoy!
